  1. I am so proud of you, Betsy! This is such a fantastic blog I had no idea you even started it-I remember chatting about it. This is amazing. Love you!

  2. Hi Elizabeth,
It was nice meeting you at the SoCal Writers’ Conference. I finally had a chance to peruse your blog. Your writing is wonderful, and I enjoyed the posts I have read so far. I finally started a blog, and you have given me so many ideas, so thank you! Now, though, to get back to the dreaded querying . . .
    Kimberly 🙂

  3. I love your writing! I’m an aspiring journalist so I was a little bit discouraged to see that you left the profession for another career. I’m hoping that I can stick with it long enough because the truth is I left another career to pursue journalism!

  4. Hi Elizabeth,

I found an essay of yours on literary mama and wanted to see more of your writing. I love your style and can relate to a lot of what you have posted. Some of it has been very inspirational. Thank you for following my blog, as well. I look forward to reading more.

Libbi (real name is Elizabeth as well:)

  5. Nice bio, not sure whether it was the dog lover that got me or the love of travel. Came over here to say many thanks for the follow on my humble wee blog as it is really appreciated. Welcome aboard! If you have any requests or suggestions just drop me a line. Will now take a further tour of your site, MM 🍀

  6. Thanks for following Flingo — so good to connect with you! I just stepped down as a Profiles Editor at Literary Mama to do more writing myself. Looking forward to reading more.

  7. Your about page hooked me. Thanks for reading Katie and following nutsrok. My 86 year old mother does my illustrations. Katie is from mother’s memoirs of growing up in the depression in East Texas. You may like a post I did today about my mother, “Vagina, Boobs, and Poop.”

  8. Dear Elizabeth,

A friend of mine (who is a friend of yours) recommended your first novel. I enthusiastically purchased an electronic version.

I found your many repeated disparaging references to “fat” people in this novel quite offensive and off-putting.

Are you aware of how many times you described a variety of your characters as “fat”? And, of course, the implication was always that the “fat” people were unsavory characters and worthy of ridicule.

I will not finish reading your novel because of your prejudices and will not be recommending this book to anyone.

    Shame on you.

    • Dear M. You have given me much to think about. When I am in the minds and bodies of my characters I view the world as they see and feel it which is not the way I see or feel it. Their prejudices are not my own. This may not come through on the printed page and I can understand that. After all, my name is on the cover. I am very sorry you were offended and respect your position completely. Thank you for contacting me and sharing your thoughts with me. I will keep them very much in mind as I continue to write.
